Abrolhos Islands Named a Top Travel Destination for 2021

22 Dec 2020,

Earlier this month, Skyscanner, launched their ‘ones to watch’ top travel destinations in 2021. The Abrolhos Island was named as a soon to be a top travel destination for people looking for an off-grid holiday.

Perhaps somewhat of a little know destination, the Abrolhos Islands are approximately 60kms off the Coast of Geraldton and consist of over 120 islands. The island is clustered into 3 main groups, the Wallabi Group, Easter Group and Pelsaert Group. The archipelago of islands is surrounded by turquoise waters and pristine coral reefs

The Abrolhos Islands, which are classed as a national park, are a haven for a very diverse range of wildlife and present visitors with fantastic fishing, bird watching, snorkelling and diving opportunities. If you enjoy photography, there are endless opportunities to capture memories and the beauty of the Abrolhos. Some of the wildlife you can expect to meet at the Abrolhos islands are; 35 different species of sea birds that use the islands for breeding, small land mammals like the Tammar Wallaby and an abundance of marine life including, Australian sea lions, dolphins, migrating whales, sharks, crayfish and a multitude of different species of fish.

There are 2 main ways that visitors experience the Abrolhos Islands, via scenic flight or on an extended charter. If you have the time and really want to experience the beauty of the Abrolhos Islands we recommend an extended liveaboard charter.
