Perth and Surrounds

Perth is truly a world class destination. It’s a thriving modern dynamic city, which basks in more sunlight days per year than nearly any other city in the world. There is much to explore in the city itself, such as Kings Park, Fremantle, the Swan River and Elizabeth Quay as well as hundreds of fantastic cafes, restaurants and bars.

A little further a field, there are beaches and an island paradise in the West and a wonderful food and wine bowl to the East. Be sure to head to Cottesloe or Scarborough beach and enjoy the coastal lifestyle that Perth enjoys and a magical Indian Ocean sunset. No trip to Perth is complete without ducking over to Rottnest island and meeting our friendly Quokkas and exploring the island on a bike or bus. The cruise to Rottnest is approximately 30 minutes from Fremantle, or 2 hours from the city centre. Half Day Tours

Enjoy the smaller things! Once you jump aboard the solar electric ferries you’ll understand there is no better way to enjoy the beautiful Swan River and Perth City.

The Ferries run between Elizabeth Quay and Claisebrook Cove, including stops at On the point and Optus Stadium, 4 times a day. The journey between each of the stops is approximately 15 minutes.

Get to know Perth in a whole new way, exploring the picturesque eastern foreshore of the Swan River and discover Perth’s hidden gems off the usual tourist route! From our central location at Barrack Square, our entertaining guides train all of our guests in the simple operation of a Segway. Anyone can do it! Each guest will receive a helmet outfitted with a wireless headset to hear full commentary and in no time, we are off. Our journey takes us along the eastern foreshore of Perth’s pristine Swan River through an urban wetland, a haven for native birds on the urban fringe of the CBD. Keep an eye out for dolphins and Western Australia’s iconic black swans. Sports fans will recognise the historic Western Australian Cricket ground, known as the WACA as we follow the foreshore to see Perth’s newest venue, Perth Stadium, adjacent to Western Australia’s only casino complex, the internationally renowned Crown Casino. Just off the foreshore route is the small inlet Claisebrook Cove, one of Perth’s hidden gems. A hub of riverside cafes, bars and elegant homes, you could be forgiven for imagining yourself in a quaint European village. We travel south from Perth driving through farmland with grazing cattle and passing by coastal towns. Arriving at Busselton, known as the gateway to the Margaret River Region we stop for morning tea (own expense) at the iconic Busselton Jetty, the longest timber jetty in the southern hemisphere. Driving into the heart of the region we head to one of Margaret River’s oldest breweries for a gourmet platter lunch of local produce, with complimentary beer and cider tastings.

Following lunch we continue south through the forest to an internationally renowned winery to taste some of their best award winning wines, whilst gaining some industry insight on wine production with the opportunity to purchase.

Next it’s on to Mammoth Cave for a guided tour through this gothic cave with vast chambers that reveal fascinating information on the regions flora and fauna.

Continuing south, through the Boranup Forest of enormous Karri Trees we reach the most fascinating part of the region Augusta. Here at Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, marvel at the dividing point between the Southern and Indian Oceans, a rare phenomenon to view the meetings of the two Oceans. Then we head North up to the township of Margaret River for a brief stop to stroll the main street.

After a long by fantastic day giving you a full taste of this wonderful region, we break at a restaurant en route for a light dinner (own expense) then it’s back to Perth arriving at approximately 9:30pm

After stopping at Caversham Wildlife Park in the Swan Valley to view koalas, wombats and hand feed the kangaroos, we travel along quiet back roads to the lobster fishing town of Cervantes.

Once here, enjoy a behind-the-scenes factory tour on the processing of Western Australia Rock Lobster, followed by our included fish and chips lunch, or why not upgrade to half a grilled lobster (at extra cost).

Then it’s onwards to Nambung National Park to see the mystical Pinnacles Desert for an easy paced walk through the fascinating landscape, giving you the opportunity to really embrace this amazing and mystical place. The highlight of the tour involves 4-wheel driving over the vast sand dunes of Lancelin in custom built vehicles unique to ADAMS Pinnacle Tours. This is followed by the thrilling experience of downhill sand boarding over these constantly moving dunes.

After an amazing day with the Pinnacles Desert, 4WD and sand boarding specialists, return to Perth down the Indian Ocean Drive stopping to view wildflowers en route (seasonal), arriving at approximately 7.30pm.

Journey through Western Australia’s wheatbelt to Hyden – home of Wave Rock, truly one of Australia’s most incredible natural landforms. Leaving Perth we head through the Perth Hills and escarpment and enter farming country. Heading east, we enjoy morning tea (own expense) at historic York, the first township founded in the Avon Valley. From there we travel the Wheatbelt Highway through the agricultural towns of Corrigin and Kondinin; through outback farming country – giving a glimpse of Australian country life.

We then stop briefly at the infamous Dog Cemetery, a shrine to man’s best friend and an integral part of farming life. Then visit Hippo’s Yawn, a rock formation which resembles a hippo yawning. We then break for an Aussie country style lunch at the Wildflower Shop. Whilst here, visit either a Wildlife Park, view a unique Antique Lace Collection – even featuring lace from Lady Diana, or visit the amazing Toy Soldier Museum.

Then we move on to see the spectacular prehistoric rock formation of Wave Rock and sacred Aboriginal sites. Leaving Wave Rock, we visit Hippo’s Yawn and Mulka’s Cave.

We return to Perth with a stop at a remote country town for a light afternoon tea and snack (own expense) arriving approximately at 8:30pm.

Day 1 (Perth - Kalbarri) Depart Perth at 7am, and head North in air-conditioned comfort. Enjoy morning tea at Yanchep National Park, and see koalas, kangaroos and a variety of local bird life. Continue along Indian Ocean Drive, and view spectacular sand dunes and seasonal wildflowers (Aug-Oct). Call into one of the beautiful seaside towns for a quick photo opportunity of the amazing colour of the Turquoise Coast. Along the way, view the leaning trees of Greenough, The Lynton Hiring Depot and stop at the lookout over the Pink Lake (fingers crossed its Pink) to take photos before arriving at Kalbarri Palms Resort for an overnight stay. Here you can enjoy the pool and facilities before dinner. Dinner included. Stay overnight at Kalbarri.

Day 2 (Kalbarri - Monkey Mia) Explore the magnificent 400 million year old rock formations, with spectacular views along the Murchison River Gorge from the famous Kalbarri icon Nature’s Window. Continue North to The Shark Bay World Heritage Area and stop at Shell Beach, one of only two all-shell beaches in the world. Visit Eagle Bluff for spectacular views of the Shark Bay waters and look for sharks, rays and turtles feeding among the seagrass. After crossing the 26th parallel, you arrive in the Northern part of WA. Enjoy the Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort with the afternoon free to enjoy the resort beach and facilities, and perhaps see dolphins and turtles feeding on the shoreline. After dinner, enjoy some star gazing away from the city lights. Breakfast & Dinner included. Overnight stay at Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort.

Day 3 (Monkey Mia - Kalbarri) Begin the day with breakfast overlooking the world famous Monkey Mia Dolphin Interaction Area, then join the National Park Rangers for close up views and perhaps the thrill of hand feeding one of these beautiful creatures. After a brief stop at Denham, visit Ocean Park Aquarium. See sharks being fed and some of Australia's most amazing marine life on a 1 hour guided tour with a marine biologist. Visit Hamelin Pool and view the ancient Stromatolites, the oldest form of life on earth 3 billion years ago. View the red outback terrain on your return drive back to Kalbarri, with time to enjoy the Kalbarri Palm Resort pool and facilities before your True Blue Aussie BBQ Dinner. Breakfast & Dinner included. Overnight stay at Kalbarri.

Day 4 (Kalbarri - Pinnacles - Perth) Stop at Pot Alley for a morning view of the Indian Ocean. Take the winding, rocky walk down to the beautiful beach through the spectacular colours of the gorge, a great place to explore. Then drive to the Port City of Geraldton for a visit to the impressive HMAS Sydney memorial, before enjoying lunch in one of the beautiful seaside towns. Complete the tour with a visit to Nambung National Park, home of the mysterious Pinnacles Desert. There you are driven through these amazing fossilised ancient limestone pillars, with opportunities to walk and explore the wide variety of Pinnacles and visit the Desert Discovery Centre Tourist Centre before returning to Perth approximately 6pm, leaving you to reminisce on your Travel Bug experience.
