Albany’s breathtakingly rugged coastline delivers a fitting backdrop to the incredible story behind the Field of Light: Avenue of Honour art installation. The Field of Light has transformed Albany’s Avenue of Honour into a dazzling gallery of light with 16,000 stemmed glass spheres gently illuminating Mount Clarence’s tree lined avenue.

Located in Western Australia’s southernmost Port City, Albany was the last glimpse of Australia for some 41,000 Australian and New Zealand Army Corps departing for the battlefields of The Great War and the first glimpse of home for those who returned.

The themes of memory and hope are at the heart of this, site specific ephemeral light installation by acclaimed British artist Bruce Munro (renowned for his Field of Light at Uluru).

The installation coincides with the conclusion of Anzac Centenary commemorations and will remain in place for up to seven months, closing after Anzac Day in 2019. You can complement your Field of Light: Avenue of Honour experience with a short walk to the extraordinary National Anzac Centre.

Albany is a 5 hour drive from Perth or a direct flight from Perth airport will whisk you there in 1 hour 15 minutes.
