Enjoy a once in a lifetime experience sailing the UNESCO World Heritage Listed Ningaloo Reef. You will stay on the luxurious catamaran ‘Shore Thing’, its shallow draft makes it the perfect vessel for your Ningaloo experience, allowing access to areas not accessible to other tour companies.

Throughout the 5 nights and 6 days aboard, you will;

Sail a winding path through the dense coral formations surrounding Coral Bay
Sail to Batemans Bay – home to curious manta rays
Visit the historical Norwegian Bay Whaling Station ruins
Snorkel a historic shipwreck
Sail the remote areas of the reef between Norwegian Bay and Coral Bay – areas that other tours are unable to access.
Have many opportunities for snorkelling, diving and kayaking in the pristine waters of the Ningaloo Marine Park.
Overnight stay in the sheltered bays of the Ningaloo Reef.

The Ningaloo escape is the marine equivalent of a safari, taking you up close and personal with the must-see marine animals, all from the comfort of the boat, or water – whichever you prefer.

Day 1

From Coral Bay you will take the short transfer to the ‘Shore Thing’ which will be your home for the next 5 nights. Departure is 4 pm and if timing allows you may fit in a quick afternoon snorkel, before enjoying a sunset sail to the evening anchorage. You can try your hand at fishing in the afternoon, for the chance of a freshly caught dinner.

Day 2

After breakfast you can enjoy a snorkel at Pandora’s Garden, a collection of stunning plate coral formations, abundant marine life and home to many turtles. Following morning tea, you will sail to the North Reef Nursery, a place where reef sharks and rays collect to be cleaned. There are more opportunities to snorkel in the afternoon or sit back and relax on the deck. You will enjoy a beautiful 2 course meal for dinner.

At the end of the day, there is the opportunity to relax throughout the vessel and review the photos collected throughout the day learning more about the species observed.

Day 3

This morning you will sail into Chabjuwardoo Bay via Stanley pool and explore the edge of the contrasting waters where sandy shallows met the deeper pools. Throughout the day you might see dugongs, dolphins and whales (depending on the season) as you travel between destinations. Your crew will select the best snorkelling locations on the day based on the weather conditions, and there are lots to choose from. Shore Thing is the only tour vessel that visits these sites and some of the locations have been named by the crew, including: “The Fishbowl”, “Holey Moley”, “Turtle Pond” and “Lost City”.

Day 4

After Breakfast you will step ashore at Norwegian Bay and stretch your legs as you explore the ruins of the historic whaling station. The station was abandoned in the 1950s, as you explore you will learn the history of the station and life in the whaling days. You will be able to snorkel the “Finn Shipwreck”, an old whaling vessel. Throughout the remainder of the afternoon, the crew will seek out the best destination for snorkelling and seek out marine life on the way. This afternoon you will once again step ashore and enjoy a stunning sunset from Point Cloates.

Day 5

After breakfast, take the opportunity to kayak through the shallow waters of Jane’s Bay where you could see large rays and feeding turtles. Throughout the day the crew will once again seek out the best snorkelling opportunities. Be sure to be on the lookout for dugongs, dolphins and whales (depending on the season) as you travel to the evening anchorage.

Day 6

On your final day sail to more snorkelling sites throughout the reef, taking in the best of the marine life based on the conditions. You will enjoy a presentation on Manta Ray biology and behaviour searching and snorkelling with the graceful rays. Before lunch you can squeeze one last snorkelling opportunity in watching as grey reef sharks allow themselves to be cleaned by smaller fish.

We will sail back into Coral Bay at approximately 12:30.
