7 Day Discover the South West

Day 1 – Drive from Perth to Margaret River via Bunbury and Busselton

Begin your South West escape with a drive from Perth to Margaret River stopping at Bunbury for lunch along the beautiful and newly redeveloped Koombana Bay foreshore precinct. Bunbury’s Dolphin Discovery Centre is well worth a visit, before continuing your way south along the coast to Busselton. Located in picturesque Geographe Bay, Busselton is home to the longest timber piled jetty in the Southern Hemisphere! If you don’t fancy walking the 1.8km Busselton Jetty, take the train to the Underwater Observatory at the end. Continue onto Margaret River and make yourself at home in the centrally located Margarets in Town Apartments.

Day 2 – Enjoy the Margaret River Region

The day is yours to enjoy and explore the incredible Margaret River region. Famous for its beautiful coastline and world class surfing, head to the coast to check out Surfer’s Point or enjoy a dip at the Injidup Natural Spa. Take a drive along Caves Road through the Boranup Forest, explore one of the many caves with Forest Adventures and say hello to the friendly local rays that call Hamelin Bay home or even a take a whale watching cruise at nearby Dunsborough. With over 50 wineries and 100 restaurants to choose from in this World Class winery region you certainly won’t go hungry or thirsty! Did we mention there is also a chocolate factory and plenty of locally produced cheeses!

Day 3 - Drive from Margaret River to Pemberton

Say goodbye to Margaret River, but thankfully not to the good food and wine just yet as there is plenty more of that to come! Admire the magnificent Karri trees as you drive to Pemberton, calling in at Nannup, a perfectly preserved timber town full of charm and character. Visit Chestnut Brae a working farm in the Blackwood River Valley, specialising in unique chestnuts products including ale and relish, all made from locally grown produce, before continuing onto Pemberton where the local delicacies continue, including their famous Marron crayfish. Settle in for the evening at the RAC Karri Valley Resort and enjoy their fantastic facilities nestled in the peaceful forest setting!

Day 4 – Pemberton

Start your free morning with breakfast at the Lakeside Restaurant, making the most of the facilities in this tranquil location including walking trails or hire a canoe. Day 5 – Drive Pemberton to Albany via Walpole & Denmark

Feeling brave? Start your morning with a climb up the 58 metre Gloucester Tree – the world’s second tallest fire lookout tree! Enjoy morning tea at Walpole on the Nornalup Inlet, before losing yourself in amongst the Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk, an elevated walkway nestled among the Tingle Trees. Admire the white sand and turquoise waters of Denmark’s Green Pool, then enjoy a picnic lunch at Elephant Rocks, taking in this unique landscape. Continue onto Albany and settle into your accommodation at the Albany Dog Rock Motel.

Day 6 – Albany Gap and Natural Wonders Tour
